
StriveCLT helps families who aspire to increase their social capital. We provide reading, digital, financial and civic literacy education as well as family mentoring and networking opportunities to help them reach their full potential.

Participating families will receive:
One (1) free laptop computer for the household
Internet access at low or no cost if home is not already connected
Free adjustable desk and chair set for the child(dren) in grades K-3
Set of 6 books for each K-3 child’s home library
Family resource binder with helpful information, tools, and resources
Opportunity to serve on StriveCLT Committees to share ideas and participate in the planning of activities for the Southside
Eligibility
Household contains at least one (1) child enrolled in K-3 grade at Marie G. Davis
Program participants are residents of SouthSide Homes
Family commits to actively participate in all parts of the program, to the best of their ability
How It Works
Reading tutoring for children K-3 who attend Marie G. Davis School
Parent/guardian instruction on how to read with the child in a way that increases their vocabulary and word comprehension
Monthly sessions to help everyone in the household improve their internet and computer skills and monthly tips on spending and saving for every household
Special field trips to museums, financial institutions, local tourist attractions, sports arenas, or other places of interest
Opportunity to give back to others by volunteering for community service
Bi-monthly visits and lunch or dinner at Southside by speakers whose stories inspire
Mentoring support as family members work to learn new skills and information
A “village” of resources that help families connect with vital tools and services
StriveCLT will work with 25 families between September 2022 - May 2023 to provide education and experiences that improve their lives.
