Early Voting

  • Statewide Dates: Early voting in North Carolina begins on Thursday, October 17, 2024, and ends on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

  • Mecklenburg County Hours:

    • Weekdays: 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

    • Saturdays (October 19, 26, and November 2): 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    • Sundays (October 20 and 27): 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Locations in Mecklenburg County: There are 33 early voting sites across the county, including various Charlotte Mecklenburg Library branches such as Allegra Westbrooks Regional, South County Regional, and others.

Finding Polling Locations

Same-Day Registration

  • North Carolina allows same-day registration during the early voting period. If you’re not registered, you can register and vote at the same time. You’ll need to provide proof of residency, such as a government-issued ID or a utility bill.

Checking Voter Status

Election Day Details

  • Election Day is Tuesday, November 5, 2024, with polls open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. statewide. If you’re in line by 7:30 p.m., you’ll be allowed to vote.

Voter ID Requirements

  • North Carolina requires voters to present a valid photo ID. If you don’t have one, you can still vote by signing a "reasonable impediment" declaration explaining why you couldn’t obtain an ID.
